When you arrive

Ring the bell to the left of the glass doors and the staff on reception will let you in to the waiting area. Simply report to reception who will inform the clinical team that you have arrived. The CRF is fully accessible for wheelchair users and there are plenty of toilet facilities on the premises.

By Car

The NIHR Bristol Clinical Research Facility is at 60 Michael’s Hill. The entrance to the CRF is next to the entrance to Audiology, both are in a courtyard set back from St Michael’s Hill, opposite Royal Fort Road.

Clean air zone
The NIHR Bristol Clinical Research Facility is located within the Bristol Clean Air Zone. A charge is payable if your vehicle does not meet the zone’s emission standards. For more information, and to check whether your vehicle is viable, please refer to the Bristol City Council website.

Car park
Parking at St Michael’s Hospital is limited and we would recommend using local public car parks or public transport. There is a pay and display car park on site with charges in place between 6am and 6pm daily. Up to 2 hours parking costs £3.40 and the maximum of 12 hours parking costs £15. A limited number of pay and display parking spaces are also available on St. Michael’s Hill.

Cabot Circus car park is served by the free hospital shuttle bus (see below). This bus picks up passengers in Champion Square and stops just up the hill from the entrance to the facility. View the hospital shuttle bus timetable and further information.

Alternative parking can be found at Trenchard Street car park, Rupert Street car park, Queen Charlotte Street car park, Prince Street car park, and Lower Castle Street car park. All of these are multistorey NCPs and further information can be found on the NCP website.

By Bus

A free hospital shuttle bus serves all sites at University Hospital Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust. This bus has several stops around the central Bristol area which can be found on this timetable.

If arriving at Bristol bus station, the closest stop for the shuttle bus is Bristol Eye Hospital Lower Maudlin Street.

By Train

The nearest train station to the NIHR Bristol Clinical Research Facility is Bristol Temple Meads.

Bristol Temple Meads is served by the free hospital bus. This bus picks up passengers at the Terminus and stops just up the hill from the entrance to the facility. View the hospital shuttle bus timetable and further information.

By Bicycle

St Michael’s Hospital offers several bicycle racks to secure your bike while using the department. These can be found at the entrance to the main hospital, a short walk from the entrance to the NIHR Bristol Clinical Research Facility. Bicycles are left on site at owner’s own risk. D locks are recommended.
